Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of encoding and decoding, and provides a point cloud encoding method, a point cloud decoding method, an encoder, and a decoder, for use in providing a technical solution for efficiently encoding and decoding point cloud data. The point cloud encoding method comprises: obtaining auxiliary information of an occupancy map union of a point cloud group, wherein the point cloud group comprises N point cloud frames, N≥2, N is an integer, the occupancy map union is a union of occupancy maps of N patches having s matching relationship in the N point cloud frames, and the auxiliary information of the occupancy map union is used for determining the auxiliary information of the N patches; and encoding a syntax element into a code stream, wherein the syntax element comprises the auxiliary information of the occupancy map union. The technical solution provided by the present application is conductive to reducing code stream transmission overhead without affecting the encoding and decoding performance.
