Abstract:
This invention simultaneously generates a plurality of polarized images of a subject without weakening light intensity. Provided is a polarization imaging system comprising an imaging unit array in which a plurality of imaging units are arrayed two-dimensionally. Each imaging unit comprises a single wavefront control element having a plurality of microstructures and a pixel array that is disposed so as to oppose the wavefront control element and includes a plurality of pixels that correspond to the wavefront control element and are arrayed two-dimensionally. Each single wavefront control element spatially divides the light from the subject into first polarized light and second polarized light having a polarization direction orthogonal to that of the first polarized light or having a rotation direction that is the reverse of that of the first polarized light. The first polarized light is concentrated on a first concentration position on the pixel array. The second polarized light is concentrated on a second concentration position on the pixel array.
