Abstract:
A polarizing plate which comprises a polymer film and a polarizing membrane being arranged so that the slow phase axis of the polymer film and the transmission axis of the polarizing membrane form an angle substantially of 45 °, wherein the polarizing membrane exhibits a transmissivity of 30 to 50 % and a polarizing degree of 90 to 100 %, and wherein when an incident light of 450 nm is fallen to the polarizing plate from the polarizing membrane side, the ratio of the transmissivity in the direction parallel with the transmission axis to that to the direction perpendicular to the transmission axis (T // (450) / T $m(t) (450)) satisfies the following formula (I), and when an incident light of 590 nm is fallen to the polarizing plate from the polarizing membrane side, the ratio of the transmissivity in the direction parallel with the transmission axis to that to the direction perpendicular to the transmission axis (T // (590) / T $m(t) (590)) satisfies the following formula (II): (I) 0.6 ≤ T // (450) / T $m(t) (450) ≤ 1.5 and (II) 0.6 ≤ T // (590) / T $m(t) (590) ≤ 1.5.
