Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polarizing plate in which cracks are not prone occur in a hole section in thermal shock test. This polarizing plate comprises a polarizing element obtained by adsorbing and orienting a dichroic dye on a polyvinyl alcohol resin layer, and a transparent protective film, wherein the boron adsorption rate of the polyvinyl alcohol resin layer is greater than or equal to 5.70 mass%, the boron content ratio of the polarizing element is 4.0-8.0 mass%; the polarizing element has at least one hole section in the plane in planar view, and the shape of said hole section satisfies both conditions (1a) and (1b). (1a) The shape of the hole section has two straight line sections approximately parallel to the transmission axis of the polarizing element, and the length of the straight line sections approximately parallel to the transmission axis of the polarizing element is less than or equal to 10 mm. (1b) The shape of the hole section has at least 2 curved line sections, and the radius of curvature of the curved line sections is greater than or equal to 0.5 mm and less than 11 mm.
