Title:
POLYARYLENE-SULFIDE FIBERS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/033855
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This invention provides: either a polyarylene-sulfide resin that can be manufactured such that fiber breakage during fiber spinning is substantially reduced or polyarylene-sulfide fibers comprising a composition containing said polyarylene-sulfide resin; and a manufacturing method therefor. Specifically, this invention discloses a polyarylene-sulfide resin or polyarylene-sulfide fibers comprising a composition containing said polyarylene-sulfide resin. This polyarylene-sulfide resin can be obtained via a method that includes reacting a diiodo aromatic compound, elemental sulfur, and a polymerization inhibitor in a molten mixture containing said diiodo aromatic compound, elemental sulfur, and polymerization inhibitor. At 300°C, this polyarylene-sulfide resin exhibits a non-Newtonian power-law index between 1.1 and 1.5, inclusive, and the ratio (Mw/Mtop) between the weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and the peak molecular weight (Mtop) of this polyarylene-sulfide resin, as measured by gel permeation chromatography, is between 1.2 and 3.5, inclusive.
