Abstract:
A polycyclic aromatic compound formed by connecting a plurality of aromatic rings with a boron atom and an oxygen, sulfur, or selenium atom which have been substituted with a specific aryl, e.g., anthracene. By using the polycyclic aromatic compound as a material for a light-emitting layer, an organic EL element excellent in terms of quantum efficiency and/or element life can be provided.
