Title:
POLYESTER BINDER FIBER FOR PAPERMAKING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/042454
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A polyester binder fiber for paper making, which has an intrinsic viscosity of 0.35 to 0.49 and a single fiber fineness of 1.5 dtex or less, and exhibits an sheet area shrinkage percentage of 70 % or less, the shrinkage percentage being represented by the following formula: sheet area shrinkage percentage (%) = &lcub (A0−A1)&sol A0&rcub X 100 wherein A0 is the area of a sheet before shrinking treatment, A1 is the area of the sheet after shrinking treatment, the sheet is prepared by agitating and mixing 80 wt % of polyester binder fibers cut into pieces having a length of 5 mm and 20 wt % of NBK in water, to disperse them in water, and making a sheet having a size of ca. 25 cm × ca. 25 cm and a grammage of about 50 g&sol m2, and the shrinking treatment is carried out in a manner wherein the sheet is dried for a day or more at room temperature, and then is placed on a perforated Teflon sheet and subjected to relaxation shrinkage in a hot circulating dryer at 140&ring C for 5 min.
