This polyester film is for protecting a polarizer, and satisfies conditional expressions (1) and (2), where T1 represents the heat shrinkage rate (%) in direction 'a' that is a first direction, as observed between before and after the film has undergone a heat treatment at 80°C, and T2 represents the heat shrinkage rate (%) in the same direction as the direction 'a', as observed between before and after the film has undergone a heat treatment at 150°C.　(1): T1≥0.2% (2): 1.0
