Abstract:

A heat−shrinkable polyester film, characterized in that it has a specific composition, that it exhibits a heat shrinkage of 20 % or more in the direction of maximum shrinkage when a specimen of the polyester film in a 10 cm X 10 cm square form is immersed in water at 85&ring C for 10 sec, is taken up from the water, is then immersed in water at 25&ring C for 10 sec, and is taken up from the latter water, and that when a plurality of specimens thereof are tested with respect to tensile properties for the direction orthogonal to the direction of maximum shrinkage under conditions wherein the distance between chucks is 100 mm, the width of a specimen is 15 mm, the test temperature is 23&ring C, the speed of testing rate of stressing is 200 mm&sol min, the number of specimens exhibiting an elongation at break of 5 % or less is 10 % or less of the total number of the specimens.
