Abstract:
Provided are a polyester resin and a paint resin composition containing the same, which have very high curability and are capable of forming a paint film with excellent workability, retort resistance, content resistance and dent resistance. This polyester resin comprises a polycarboxylic acid component and a polyol component, and has the following conditions (i) to (iii): (i) the sum of the copolymerization ratio of a terephthalic acid component and a 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid component of the polycarboxylic acid component that constitutes the polyester resin is 80 mol% or more; (ii) the copolymerization ratio of the 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid component of the polycarboxylic acid component that constitutes the polyester resin is 2 to 80 mol%; and (iii) the sum of the copolymerization ratio of an ethylene glycol component and a 1,2-propylene glycol component of the polyol component that constitutes the polyester resin is 50 mol% or more, the 1,2-propylene glycol component being included in a greater amount than the ethylene glycol component.
