Abstract:
The present invention provides a means for enabling the use of an aqueous solution of a copolymer of vinyl alcohol and a neutralized product of an ethylenically unsaturated alkali metal carboxylate or an aqueous solution of a carboxymethyl cellulose or a salt thereof as a binder for secondary batteries without causing extreme thickening even if stored in the state of an aqueous solution. More specifically, the present invention provides an aqueous solution composition of a copolymer of vinyl alcohol and a neutralized product of an ethylenically unsaturated alkali metal carboxylate or an aqueous solution composition of a carboxymethyl cellulose or a salt thereof, said composition being configured such that if Xa1 (Pa·s) is the composition viscosity of the aqueous solution composition after being diluted with water (at 25°C or less) at room temperature (25°C) so as to have a viscosity of 200 ± 100 mPa∙s and being adjusted to have a composition temperature of 25°C, and Xb1 (Pa·s) is the composition viscosity of the aqueous solution composition after being put in an airtight container and left at rest for 8 hours at 95°C, the rate of change obtained by the formula below is 0-10%.
