Abstract:
Provided is an O/W-type emulsion composition having enhanced emulsion stability. More specifically, provided is an O/W-type emulsion composition which contains a water-absorbent polymer, wherein the water-absorbent polymer satisfies the following conditions (A), (B), and (C). (A): The particle size after water swelling is 100-600 μm. (B): at least one among (B-1) and (B-2) is satisfied. (B-1): The slope in the log-log plot of the steady-flow viscosity of an aqueous solution of 1 mass% of the polymer is -1 to 0 (exclusive of 0, in the range of shear rate of 0.1-1,000 s-1). (B-2): Yield stress/yield strain balance of an aqueous solution of 1 mass% of the polymer is at least 10. (C): When an aqueous solution of 1 mass% of the polymer and 0.5 mass% of sodium chloride is sieved with an aperture of 75 μm, the amount of polymer remaining on the sieve is at most 50 mass% with respect to the amount of the aqueous solution containing polymer, and when 100 g of said composition is centrifuged at 2,000 rpm for 10 minutes at 25 °C, a separation liquid volume is less than 3 g.
