Abstract:
A polymer electrolyte fuel cell in which a plurality of single cells (12) are stacked, each single cell (12) having an ion conductive electrolyte membrane (14), an anode disposed on one side of the electrolyte membrane (14), a cathode disposed on the other side of the electrolyte membrane (14), and a conductive separator (26) on the center of which is formed a first refrigerant flow path (24) through which a refrigerant flows, wherein the separator (26) has: through holes (30e, 30f) extending in the stacking direction when a plurality of the single cells are stacked and constituting a manifold (50) through which the refrigerant flows; a second refrigerant flow path (24') for bringing the through holes (30e, 30f) into communication with the first refrigerant flow path (24); and a plurality of protrusions (52) protruding into the through holes (30e, 30f) from a section on the wall surface of the through holes (30e, 30f) in the periphery of the site at which the through holes (30e, 30f) come into contact with the second refrigerant flow path (24').
