Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polymer electrolyte which is composed of a hydrophobic segment that has a structure represented by general formula (1) and a hydrophilic segment that has a sulfonic acid group, while having the main chain mainly composed of aromatic rings, and which is configured such that the hydrophobic segment and the hydrophilic segment are joined to each other by means of direct bonds of the aromatic rings. (In general formula (1), each of Ra and Rb independently represents a fluorine atom or a perfluoroalkyl group; y represents an integer of 1-2,000; and a hydrogen atom on a benzene ring may be substituted by a fluorine atom, an alkyl group, a perfluoroalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group or a cyano group.) Consequently, the present invention provides: a polymer electrolyte which achieves high proton conductivity, while having high oxidation degradation resistance and gas barrier properties, and which is suitable for use as a polymer electrolyte membrane and is able to be easily produced, while exhibiting good solubility in solvents and excellent formability such as film forming properties; a method for producing this polymer electrolyte; a polymer electrolyte membrane; a catalyst layer; a membrane/electrode assembly; and a fuel cell.
