Abstract:
A polymer film consisting mainly of an ion-exchange resin and containing melt-formed fluororesin fibers having a fiber diameter of 0.01 to 20 µm, fiber length of 1 µm to 10 mm, and aspect ratio of 5 or higher, e.g., fibers of an ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene copolymer or polyvinylidene fluoride, in an amount of 1 to 40 wt.% based on the whole film. This polymer film is excellent in handleability and in dimensional stability in the state of containing water. A solid polymer type fuel cell which has a united membrane electrode assembly including the polymer film as an electrolyte film has high durability.
