Abstract:
A polymerizable liquid crystal material wherein the content of a salt represented by formula (I) is less than 0.01 part by mass per 100 parts by mass of a polymerizable liquid crystal compound, and the content of a nitrogen-containing compound represented by formula (II) is not more than 0.01 part by mass per 100 parts by mass of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound. In the formulae: R1 to R5 independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1-7 carbon atoms inclusive; R6 and R7 represent a hydrogen atom; X represents F-, Br-, Cl-, I-, HSO4 -, 1/2(HPO4 2-), H2PO4 -, R-C(=O)-O-, 1/2(-O-(C=O)-R'-(C=O)-O-) or R-SO3 -; R represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group; and R' represents a single bond or a divalent hydrocarbon group.
