Abstract:
Provided is a polyoxyalkylene-modified vinyl alcohol polymer, which is formed from a polyoxypropylene block and a (poly)oxyethylene block, has the polyoxyalkylene groups represented by general formula (I) in a side chain, has a viscosity-average degree of polymerization between 150 and 5,000, has a degree of saponification between 40 mol% and 99.99 mol%, and has a polyoxyalkylene group modification rate between 0.05 mol% and 10 mol%. Such a polymer has excellent temperature-sensitive thickening performance. (In general formula (I), R1 is a hydrogen atom or C1-8 alkyl group, one of R2 and R3 is a methyl group, while the other is a hydrogen atom, 10 ≤ m ≤ 40, and 1 ≤ n ≤ 50.)
