Abstract:
Provided are a polyphenylene sulfide monofilament having stable physical properties and a production method therefor. The polyphenylene sulfide monofilament is characterized by an oil component that adheres to the fiber surface thereof substantially comprising only a polyether component. It is preferable that the oil content that adheres to the fiber surface be 0.4-1.5 mass%. It is also preferable that the polyether component be a copolymer polyether in which polyethylene glycol, polypropylene glycol, polybutylene glycol, or two of more of the aforementioned substances are copolymerized. In the production method for the polyphenylene sulfide monofilament, a polyphenylene sulfide is melt spun, a water-based emulsion that substantially contains only the polyether component as an oil component is applied to the fiber so that 0.4-1.5 mass% of an adherent oil component that is substantially only the polyether component adheres to said fiber; and the fiber is subsequently stretched.
