Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for coating the balloon of a balloon catheter, wherein the surface of the balloon is at least partially wetted with a first solution containing a polysaccharide and the part of the surface of the balloon wetted with the first solution is wetted with a second solution containing an active substance. In this way the balloon is provided with an active substance layer which is efficiently applied to the vessel inner wall upon balloon inflation and also brings about a delayed, long-lasting release of the active substance.
