Abstract:
The present invention provides: a polyvinyl-alcohol-based fiber containing at least 1 mol% of at least one functional group selected from the group comprising sulfonic acid groups, sulfonate groups, maleic acid groups, itaconic acid groups, acrylic acid groups, and methacrylic acid groups, the degree of crosslinking being 0%, and the tensile strength being at least 3 cN/dtex; a method for manufacturing said polyvinyl-alcohol-based fiber; and a fiber structure using the fiber. Provided are: a polyvinyl-alcohol-based fiber having exceptional water absorption, water solubility, and mechanical strength; a fiber structure comprising said fiber; and a method for manufacturing the polyvinyl-alcohol-based fiber.
