Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a polyvinyl alcohol fiber which has excellent secondary workability and solubility in water, in particular, solubility in water at low temperatures. The present invention relates to a polyvinyl alcohol fiber comprising: a polyvinyl alcohol A having a degree of saponification of at least 90 mol% and an ethylene modification rate of 4-15 mol%; and a polyvinyl alcohol B having a degree of saponification that satisfies the following expression (1) of 0<αA−αB≤20. In expression (1), αA represents the degree of saponification of the polyvinyl alcohol A and αB represents the degree of saponification of the polyvinyl alcohol B.
