Description:
PORTABLE FOLD OUT PET SHADE

TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to outdoor products and in particular a portable fold out shade for pets.

BACKGROUND

[0002] The Australian climate is quite harmful to humans, especially with the increase in skin cancers and melanomas. This also applies to pets and the incidence of skin cancers in pets, dogs especially, is increasing. Also, requirements by various councils state that dogs should be kept on a leash whilst at the beach/park, etc...

[0003] As there are no other similar products, the purpose of this invention is to provide a safe, secure and shady place for small to medium pets. The invention is light, portable and provides the best possible protection from the sun.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0004] The present invention is a concertina style fold out pet shade that can be secured to the ground with pegs . [0005] The portable pet shade invention is manufactured from nylon and is minimum 95% UV safe at the rear, with a breathable mesh front.

[0006] The invention uses a flexible PVC ribbing frame for support.

[0007] The front mesh has a small zippered access opening. The front mesh can unzip from the rear nylon shade allowing a larger opening.

[0008] The shade may be zippered closed into a 'D' shape for transporting.

[0009] The shade has a removable, padded floor.

[0010] There is a D ring at each end of the shade allowing the invention to be pegged down. The D rings also provide a place to secure a leash.

[0011] The shade may also have a D ring on each side for possibly attaching a carry strap.

[0012] The shade may include a carry handle at one end .

[0013] The shade may include a pocket on one side for receiving items . [0014] The shade may include one or more spikes for spiking into the ground.

[0015] The shade can be expanded in one step by opening the external zipper and folding out.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

[0016] A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein;

[0017] Figure 1 is a view of the shade showing its closed configuration.

[0018] Figure 2 shows the shade from a different angle, closed.

[0019] Figure 3 shows the shade when folded open

[0020] Figure 4 shows the shade with the middle zipper open .

[0021] Figure 5 shows the small front flap open.

[0022] Figure 6 showing removable inner floor liner. [0023] Figure 7 is an enlarged view of the elastic support mechanism.

DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

[0024] Figure 1 and 2 shows the closed configuration of the invention. On one side of the invention is a pocket (1) for the storing of small personal effects. There are two 'D' rings (2) for securing the shade to the ground with pegs. (3) shows the carry handle.

[0025] The two 'D' rings on the side (4) provides a point to secure a shoulder strap. (7) indicates the zipper that holds the invention closed.

[0026] Figure 3 is the invention, showing it in the extended position when the zipper (7) is opened. There are four PVC ribs (8) that give the invention its shape. The front material is mesh, whilst the back portion is UV rated nylon.

[0027] Fig 4 indicates the invention showing the large access point open. This is achieved by opening the zipper (9) and folding the mesh portion down. The shade is then held open by an elastic support (5) . Please see Figure 7 for a detailed image of the elastic support (5) . [0028] Figure 5 is a view of the small access opening unzipped, allowing a small pet access and egress. This is achieved by opening zipper (10) . There is also a removable , padded liner (6) that gives the base of the invention its shape.

[0029] Figure 6 is a top view of the shade indicating hold down 'D' ring (2) , PVC ribs (8) , large opening zipper (9) , small opening zipper (10) and the inner, padded liner (6)
