Abstract:
This portable information terminal recognizes the face of a user or an eye of the user on the basis of an image captured by a camera mounted thereto, acquires the distance from a distance sensor to a face of the user or to the eye of the user, and performs visibility reduction control for reducing the visibility of a display if a first elapsed time, from when the distance had become equal to or less than a predetermined eyesight reduction criterion distance, has become equal to or more than a start criterion time. In addition, if a second elapsed time, from when the distance to the face of the user or to the eye of the user had become more than the eyesight reduction criterion distance, has become equal to or more than an end criterion time, the visibility reduction control is ended and a normal display is restored.
