Background Art

[002] There exists various systems, methods, devices, and apparatus adapted for facilitating casino games and for use with other respective components installed or used in the casino, such as a chip, namely a disk or plate representing a face or other value. Chips are generally devised to form a relatively complex decoration and to reduce the risk of fraudulent reproduction and/or falsification. To facilitate the management and tracing of chips, and to reduce further the risk of fraud, certain chips carry coded information or support RFID technology. Chips might be equipped with an electronic circuit with a memory, which are known as “electronic memory chips” or “electronic circuit chips”. Depending on the chip design, the electronic circuit is of the PROM or EEPROM type or may even take the form of a microprocessor associated with a memory. Other chips might carry coded and machine readable information, such as a bar code or color code marked on the surfaces and/or the lateral surface of the chip. In this regard, the type, quantity, and face value of each of the chips used in the casino could be recorded and updated in a real-time manner, such that the management and tracing of chips and the reduction of risk of fraud could be further facilitated. Obviously, it is always desirable to have even more technical means or solutions adapted for facilitating the casino games.

The chip carrier 100 comprises a cover 10 and preferably in form of a protective cover for enhancing security and/or an electromagnetic shielding cover for minimizing interference, a chip container 20, substantially in the form of a box with one open end, for accommodating one or more chips and capable of conducting internal and external communication with outside or an external dedicated device, and a base 30 for sensing the one or more chips and communicating with the chip container; wherein the cover 10, the chip container 20 and the base 30 are operatively connected with each other. In some embodiments, the chip container is an object container adapted for accommodating one or more objects of same kind or different kind, which might be embedded with a machine readable IC / chip / tag or accompanied with such a machine readable tag, such as RFID tag, such that data related to the object could be stored in the tag and then sensed by the base or an compatible device.

[0036] According to the present disclosure, the cover 10 is configured to be engageable and interlockable with the chip container 20 and switchable between a lock state in which the cover is firmly engaged with the chip container to make an inner space of the chip container adapted for accommodating the one or more chips unaccessible and an unlock state in which the cover is at least partly separated from the chip container to make the inner space accessible such that the one or more chips could be put thereinto or taken out therefrom.

[0037] In several embodiments of the present disclosure, when the top cover is inserted into or mounted at the chip container, a set of motorized lock / locking mechanism 204 embedded in and/or arranged at one of more corners of the chip container will rotate clockwisely (e.g. by 90 degree) to hook the respective stainless bars (not shown) located in respective corners of the top cover. Only when the chip carrier or the chip container is placed at designed locations and user identity has been verified by processing a biometric data and/or a digital ID entered or transferred thereinto, the motorized lock will be powered again and rotate such as 90 degree counter clockwise to unlock the top cover. [0038] In some embodiments, the chip container 20 is configured to be engageable and interlockable with the base and switchable between an inactive state and an active state in response to the working requirements and conditions for various operations as required. In the active state, the base is firmly engaged with the chip container to enable it to sense, record, and/or deliver an information including a type, a quantity, and/or a face value of each of the one or more chips received in the inner space of the chip container and to energise / activate the chip container to carry out its operation; and while in the inactive state the base might be at least partly separated from the chip container and de-energise / deactivate the chip container to make it ceased to function. In some embodiments, the base instructs the chip container to lock the cover before deactivating the chip container, such that the chips received therein could be enclosed and protected by the cover.

[0039] In some embodiments, when the chip container is placed on the top of the base, the embedded magnetics arranged at both the chip container and base will align each other. When the chip container and base are magnetically conducted, a set of motorized lock / locking mechanism (not shown) located near the bottom end of the chip container will rotate clockwisely (e.g. by 90 degree) to hook the stainless bars embedded in or arranged at respective corners of the base located underneath, then loose power.
