Description:
PORTABLE ROADS (PAVERS)

Pavements are the concrete blocks that are produced in plain or patterned shape, colored or uncolored, portable and jagged baseline (that enable holding on to the graded surface), in the radius of road curvature as well to create roads, the main artery roads, streets, walkways, parking areas, sidewalks, site concrete by lining up and interlocking. And instruments of the infrastructure of a provisional roads (drainage canal (3), drain covers and grids, wood lots (4), Manhole Covers, etc.), speed reducer cassis can be built onto these pavements.

The common regular roads are built as basic bitumen layer, binder layer, upper wear- resistance layer and asphalt. This works require many different heavy construction equipments and skilled workers to operate them. Each stage of the work is long term and costly.

In Turkey, %79 (49.843 km) of the roads are covered by that have only bituminous pavement have no any carrying power to serve as a protective coating to infrastructure. But, reasons like;

• design and construction failures (thin layer of asphalt, heterogeneous mixture, ignoring regional and climatic dissimilarities),

• climatic conditions during construction (paving in the cold and rainy weather),

• paving asphalt on non solid ground (collapses, rapture, spewings),

• misuse (overload),

• controlled or uncontrolled interventions to the infrastructure (intervention to existing infrastructure, re-infrastructure, repair works),

• extreme hot and extreme cold (concrete spewing, heterogeneous mixtures, over

bituminous)

shortens standard asphalt life (17 years) to a few years.

Moreover, regular site concretes are made of independent elements like asphalt, stable concreted structures, square cement, pavers, interlocked pavers or similar small construction elements. The site concretes that are made of asphalt have the above mentioned disadvantages.

The concrete structures are stable. In case of intervention to infrastructure site concrete must be demolished. Demolition and transportation of rubble is costly and time consuming. At the same time, newiy casted site concrete should not be used until its all dry and solid. Newly casted concrete and the old existing one cannot fully conjoin. It will have a patchy look and unpleasant visual integrity.

The structural elements, pavers, borders, interlocked pavers and similar structural elements used for construction of walkways and site concretes and the areas that paved with these materials are very costly due to the fact that produced in small sizes and independent pieces. A Moreover roads and areas that paved with above mentioned materials are prone to get damaged and deformed in very short period because of various reasons after installation construction errors, misusage, overload and climatic conditions). Deformed and damaged structures form puddle in rainy weather and water splashes occur.

Furthermore, since these structures are made of small sized and independent, they can easily be dismantled and utilized as weapon against police and riot forces by crowd especially in metropolis during the illegal protests.

Common asphalted roads require repairs often due to damages caused by controlled or uncontrolled interventions to infrastructure. Repairs are highly time consuming and costly. Repairs deform the visual integrity of the road and create a patchy look. Pavement loses its standard features and disintegration starts.

Tire marks that seen in the upper part of the asphalt create partial energy consumption and make vehicles to consume extra fuel.

Shiny asphalt pavements create negative effects by reflecting sun rays at daytime and lights of the oncoming traffic at night.

Large portion of bitumen which is raw material of asphalt, is imported and causes exchange outflow.

Portable roads (pavers) aim, easy construction in all climatic conditions including rainy weather, to enable interventions to road infrastructure (portability), to be applicable to weak terrains, possess high carrying capacity, durable, easy to construct, fast and economical, patterned and colorful pavements.

The portable concrete blocks that is utilized in road constructions can be manufactured

130mm x 160mm thick, 1800mm x 3600mm wide and 4000mm x 9000mm long. The portable blocks that used in sidewalks can be manufactured 60mm x 90mm thick, 1000mm x 3200mm wide and 2000mm x 5600mm long. These blocks can be produced almost in any sizes and thickness by using adjustable and flexible molding system. Check out the figures given below in order to fully comprehend the aim of this invention.

Pavers are portable, finished, jagged baseline (that enables to grip the ground firmly), colorful or colorless, independent concrete blocks that are manufactured with special molding system in specific sizes and shapes in mobile factories. They are different from stable concrete roads with these features. Hanging system (1) for transportation is designed on the top or on the side of the block according to its weight.

Concrete pavements are more durable than asphalt roads due to its structural features. Since stable concrete are casted as a whole, there might be cracks during or after casting and these cracks end up in breaking whole pavement. Since portable roads are manufactured as single and independent blocks, rapture or crack in one block does not affect others. The damaged block may easily be replaced.

The asphalt and monolithic concrete roads is unit. In case of interventions to the infrastructure or repairs, massive labor force and constructional equipments are required for demolition and transportation of rubble.

Pavement blocks are transported from factory to the construction site unloaded and placed onto the improved ground with the help of cranes. A mobile crane and a few workers will be sufficient. Blocks can easily be removed fast and locally when intervention to infrastructure required. Upon infrastructure work or repair it can easily be reestablished, Equipments for excavation and transportation of rubbles are not required. No intense equipment traffic.

Since asphalt cannot be casted in extreme cold and hot weather, asphalt construction and repair season is relatively shorter. Concrete blocks are manufactured in factories and quality controlled blocks are brought to construction site. Unlike asphalt, these blocks can be applied in any weather conditions.

Concrete roads are not exposed to seasonal damages as asphalt roads. It is not affected from extreme cold and hot weather. Thus, will not be deformed.

The most important advantage of concrete pavement is durability and being long lasting. Studies show that they have 30-35 years life. It's anticipated that pavers will last longer than concrete roads due to the fact that it possesses all advantages of concrete roads and minimize the disadvantages of it.

Pavers are designed to have drainage lids (3), woodlot (4), manhole lids, grates, speed reducer cassis on them.

While the raw material of asphalt (bitumen) is imported, all the raw materials of concrete blocks could be provided from local resources. Moreover, since there are only five refineries that produce asphalt materials, it is very expensive to supply and transport it domestically.

Pavers can easily be installed in the cities with simple ground improvement. The same pavers can easily be removed and reinstalled when infrastructure work and repairs required. They are very ideal for industrial use (for mine and oil prospecting), as well as for provisional roads. They prevent very huge economical loss. The concrete pavers are matt and honed unlike shiny asphalt surfaces therefore they would not reflect sunlight and lights of oncoming traffic at night. Concrete blocks would not be eroded and would not bear tire marks which causes extra energy lost. In addition to that, concrete blocks are lighter color than asphalt therefore reduce the illuminating costs of roads, parks.

Noise pollution is caused by many and various construction equipments used during the construction of asphalt and stable concrete roads. Construction of concrete blocks does not require as many construction equipment as asphalt and stable concrete roads do. Thus, they significantly reduce the noise pollution.

The concrete block paved roads look visually better than asphalt and stable concrete paved roads. It looks pretty consistent with the patterns (2). Does not look patchy at all and help to drain rain water better with its groves (2).

They look amazingly gorgeous and different with its natural look, ecstatic patterns and various colors (2) and figures.

THE APPLICATION METHOD OF THE INVENTION FOR INDUSTRY

These concrete blocks which manufactured by specific molding systems at the workshops, load with the help of four ropes crane to transport vehicles. Concrete blocks brought into the application field, are unloaded with the help of cranes, and seated to the breeded and levelled ground floor. These concrete blocks are used to cover the surfaces which includes infrastructure instruments (drainage canal (3), drain covers and grids, trees (4), Manhole Covers,etc... ), speed reducer cassis on the possession that levelled ground, and to construct the main artery roads, streets, walkways, sidewalks, field concrete by interlocking the path, side by lining, have recessed-protruding base structure, colored-uncolored, flat-patterned (2), portable, and desired radius of curvature.
