Abstract:
A position capturing system (1) includes: a vehicle (5) provided with a measurement unit (2) that magnetically detects magnetic markers (10) installed on roads and that distinguishes the polarities thereof, as well as a GPS unit (35) that measures the position of the vehicle (5); a database (34) that stores the installation positions of the individual magnetic markers (10) in association with polarity information of the magnetic markers (10); and a position capturing unit (32) that selects the corresponding installation position from the database (34) when one of the magnetic markers (10) is detected and that executes processing for capturing the position of the vehicle (5). When one of the magnetic markers (10) is detected, an installation position that is located within a predetermined range with reference to the position measured by the GPS unit (35) and for which the associated polarity information matches the polarity of the detected magnetic marker (10) is selected.
