Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of lithium ion batteries, and disclosed are a positive electrode material, a preparation method therefor, and an application thereof. The positive electrode material comprises secondary particles of agglomerated primary particles; each secondary particle, in a direction from the center to the surface of the secondary particle, sequentially comprises a core structure, an intermediate layer, and a shell layer; the intermediate layer is annularly distributed, and the inner radius r1 of said annulus and the radius R of the secondary particle satisfy the following relationship: 0.35 < r1 / R < 1; the secondary particles have densely packed inner core structures, loose and porous intermediate layers, and a densely packed shell layers; the porosity of the intermediate layer is greater than or equal to 20 %; and the average pore diameter of the intermediate layer is less than or equal to 1 μm. The positive electrode material having the specified structure has high tap density, and enables a lithium ion battery containing said positive electrode material to have high a initial charge-discharge capacity, a high initial efficiency, a high rate capability, and a high capacity retention.
