Abstract:
A power storage device 20 comprises power storage elements 31, external terminals 22P, 22N which are connected to the power storage elements 31, a current cut-off device 37 which is positioned in a current path connecting the power storage elements 31 and the external terminals, a voltage application circuit 60 which applies voltage to the external terminal 22P using the power storage elements 31 or another circuit as a power source, and a control device 50, wherein the control device 50 carries out the following processes: a current cut-off process which cuts off the current from the power storage elements 31 by switching the current cut-off device 37 to OPEN; a detection process which, while the current is cut off by means of the current cut-off process, detects the voltage of the external terminal 22P, to which voltage is applied by the voltage application circuit 60; a determining process which determines, on the basis of the voltage of the external terminal 22P detected by the detection process, the presence or absence of a short circuit 80 which short-circuits the external terminals; and a switching process which switches the current cut-off device 37 to CLOSE only when the absence of the short circuit has been determined by the determining process.
