Abstract:
A power supply device for supplying electrical power to an external load comprises a generator capable of generating electrical power by means of motive power from an engine, a housing in which a battery can be housed, a state-determining means for determining the state of the power supply device, and a control means for controlling, by means of electrical power from the generator, the charging of the battery housed in the housing and the supply of electrical power to the external load. The generator has a tank for storing a fuel for the engine. When it is determined by the state-determining means that the remaining amount of fuel in the tank has fallen below a threshold, the control means uses, auxiliarily, electrical power from the battery housed in the housing, and controls the supply of electrical power to the external load by means of the electrical power from the generator and the electrical power from the battery.
