A power supply system according to one embodiment of the present disclosure comprises an electrical work machine, a power supply device, and an adapter. The power supply device outputs a power-source voltage. The adapter is connected between the power supply device and the electrical work machine and relays the power-source voltage that is output by the power supply device to the electrical work machine. A work-machine communication unit of the electrical work machine digitally communicates with the adapter such that, in accordance with communication content, the voltage levels of electrical signals successively switch between a high level and a low level as time passes. A power-source communication unit of the power supply device digitally communicates with the adapter. An adapter communication unit of the adapter digitally communicates with the electrical work machine and digitally communicates with the power supply device.
