Title:
POWER TRANSMISSION STRUCTURE FOR IMPROVING THE FUEL EFFICIENCY OF A FOUR-STROKE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/105707
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved power transmission structure of a four-stroke internal combustion engine, in which a crank arm of the four-stroke internal combustion engine is replaced by an elliptical gear (3), and the elliptical gear (3) rotates in engagement with an elliptical gear (4), the size and shape of which are the same as those of the elliptical gear (3). The gears (3, 4) are assembled such that the points that have moved along the respective longer diameters of the ellipses by a predetermined distance from the respective centers (8, 9) of ellipses become respective rotation centers (5, 7) of the elliptical gears (3, 4), and thus the distances from the rotation centers (5, 7) of the elliptical gears (3, 4) engaged with one another to a power transmission point (6) may alternately vary in accordance with a power transmission direction. According to the present invention, a larger torque can be obtained by a piston during an power stroke of the same size, and the power required for a compression stroke and an exhaust stroke can be generated from a smaller torque, thereby generating a larger torque from a four-stroke internal combustion engine having the same displacement volume, and thus increasing an accelerating force and hill-climbing capacity, and reducing power loss to increase useful output (actual horsepower).
