CLAIM

1) This invention relates to a pram hood unit, with the means of an integrated shopping basket, whereby the base and surrounding walls of the basket are integrated.

2) The pram hood unit has a safety feature as the surrounding walls of the basket and the base are integrated to avoid dettachment and keeps safe the child and its user.

3) The pram hood unit can easily be taken off as it is one whole unit and easily stored when not in use, as the frame and the basket fold flat.

4) The pram hood unit retro fits onto a wide range of prams using features, such as, adjustable clip mechanisms, also adjustable width and lengthwise by means of telescopic poles.

Description:
Pram hood with integrated

shopping basket

Description

1) The present invention patent number 2798651 is inconvenient for the user as it endangers the safety of the child i.e

it could cause a safety hazard if it were to detach from the stroller.

2) The present invention 'canopy carrier for strollers' patent 2798651 relates to canopy construction and more particularly

to canopy construction for strollers. This invention, the pram hood unit is far more safer than the present invention as the

basket is intergrated within the canopy and has no metal based hooks and is light in weight.

3) Various other types of strollers and carriages have pockets and pouches which isnt quite big enough for storing large

items and thus causing problems for the stroller user when simoultaneousely carrying shopping and pushing the pram.

4) This invention is large enough for storing items safely.

Pram hood with integrated shopping basket

Description:

Shopping trips with a pram/pushchair/buggy can often become difficult; this is caused by lack of space for storage and the lack of room for manoeuvre in getting to place items either in a bag or on the underside bay where large items are usually stored on a pram. To overcome this, the claim offers to incorporate a pram hood into a shopping basket. The user unfolds the unit by pressing the button (1) which in turn releases the front bar hinge (2) that locks the front frame in place. The frame works on a hinge axis (2 and 3) that allows the product to open and close by use of a two button process (1). This process is commonly used on prams to deploy hoods.

When the frame is locked into its opened position the user can apply the basket by clipping the basket clips (7), which are located on the front and back side of the basket base (11), to both the front frame (8) and back frame (9). The basket base (11) is attached to the rear bar (9) and the user simply raises the front of the basket and clips it to the front bar (8), creating the flat top on the frame.

The unit is easily attached and detached by use of the unit to pram clips (4 and 12). The frame (7 and 9) is adjustable to fit a broad range of pram designs; the unit is adjustable in height and width by means of a telescopic mechanism that is easily operated by use of a standard spring clip.

When closed the unit lays flat with the closed basket located between the front and rear bars of the frame (see figure 7), when opened the frame forms a sturdy form to support the attached basket (see figures 2, 5 and 6). The frame of the hood will be constructed from bent steel tube (8 and 9) for strength and rigidity. There is an opening on the front of the frame that allows easy access to the child. Within the frame will be a pull out sun visor/shade for greater protection against the elements. The unit will work on any pram and will fit over the hood that is pre-attached to the pram (see figure 2).

The basket is located on the top of the hood which is made from a solid plastic base and material sides that is supported by the V shaped frame of the hood. The base of the basket is detachable and uses a clip mechanism (7) to attach to the front and back bar of the V frame. The back clip of the basket will be secured to the back bar of the frame (see figure 8). The basket is supported by vertical struts (10) that operate through a manual operation (see figure 9 and 10).

The struts on the upper side of the basket (10) have the four sides of the basket (6) pre- attached to the poles of the strut. To operate the strut from a flat position to an upright position the user needs to pull the strut out from its hinge, the strut can then move on an axis and lock into a vertical position (see figures 9 and 10). The raising of all four struts creates the form of basket (see figure 11).

The cover on the frame (5) will be made from a soft washable material that is removable by means of Vetera straps.

The process of unit frame and basket unfolding is shown in figures 3,4,5,6, 9 and 10. An example of the invention will be described by referring to the accompanied drawings.

Figure 1 - Shows the claim in its open form with cover material attached.

Figure 2 - Shows the claim in its open form attached to an example of a pram frame. Figure 3 - Shows the claim (without cover) of the invention in its collapsed form.

Figure 4 - Shows the claim (without cover) in its open form.

Figure 5 - Shows the basket (without cover) folded to create the platform for the basket.

Figure 6 - Shows upright struts that will support the basket material.

Figure 7 - Shows the claim in its flat form with folded down basket frame.

Figure 8 - Shows the basket detached from the frame of the hood.

Figure 9 - Shows the frame of the basket with the struts opened in a vertical position.

Figure 10 - Shows the frame of the basket with the struts closed in the horizontal position.

Figure 11 - Shows the frame of the basket with the material attached.
