Description:
TITLE: A PRECISE JAW RELATION RECORDER

FIELD OF INVENTION

This invention is related to a mechanical jaw orientation measuring device, more particularly, a precise jaw relation recording device.

BACKGROUND

The accurate recording and transfer of jaw relation records from the completely or partially edentulous patient to the articulator is essential for the restoration of function, speech, facial appearance, and maintenance of the comfort to the patient's stomatognathic system. The patient’s maxillomandibular relationships are dynamic and changes have been observed as age increases. There are only approximate guides available to determine where to place the teeth; two of the most important of these are vertical and horizontal relationship and for the rehabilitation of an edentulous patient, a learnable, repeatable and recordable relation of maxilla to mandible is required, which remains constant throughout the life. Generally, there are three types of jaw relations namely orientation, vertical and centric. A jaw relation recording device is made to address the problems associated with these jaw relations.

Centric jaw relation is defined as "Maxillomandibular jaw relation in which the condyles articulate with the thinnest avascular portion of their respective discs with the complex in the anterior superior portion against the slopes of the articular eminences. This position is independent of tooth contact. This position is clinically discernible when the mandible is directed superiorly and anteriorly. It is restricted to purely rotary movement about the transverse horizontal axis -GPT -8 which is most commonly accepted and used the explanation of Centric jaw relation.

-Vertical jaw relation is commonly considered as "The length of the face as determined by the amount of separation of jaws", the same Vertical jaw relation at Rest is “the length of the face when the mandible is in rest position and maxillofacial musculature is in tonic equilibrium position”. The Vertical jaw relation at Occlusion is defined as the length of the face when the teeth are in contact and mandible is in centric relation or teeth are in centric relation.

The Plane of occlusion can be considered as the mean curvature of the surface that is related anatomically to the cranium and theoretically touches the incisal edges and occlusal surfaces of the teeth. The maxillary occlusal plane should be made parallel to Campers line or the ala tragus line, it is the line that extends from upper border of the tragus of the ear to the lower border of the alae of the nose. This device is designed to orient the maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the Campers line or Alatragus line, by attaching the maxillary occlusal rim to the upper member edentulous bite fork with inner and outer rims.

The occlusal rim is attached to the inner rim and the outer rim is checked for parallelism with Ala tragus line. The earpieces present at the end of the horizontal frame extending from the upper member are placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the face of the subject. It also records the vertical dimension at rest and occlusion by using the pointers placed into the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin, the recorded vertical dimension can be seen in the calibrated scale on the vertical rod of the device. The mandibular occlusal rim is attached to the adjustable bite fork forming the lower member of the device, it can be moved horizontally from protrusion to most posterior centric relation position and the distance moved can be measured horizontally in the calibrations of the lower member. Thus the device is used to orient the maxillary occlusal plane and records the vertical and centric jaw relation for edentulous subjects simultaneously in single step. Similarly for dentate subjects the parallelism of occlusal plane can be checked, vertical dimension can be verified. After guiding the subject's mandible into centric relation position, both maxillary and mandibular teeth impressions are obtained in the interocclusal recording material attached to the adjustable bite fork of the lower member. Using this bite registration obtained in the bite fork, the maxillary and mandibular casts can be attached to the non-adjustable articulator. Hence the device can be used to record and also transfer the Jaw relation from subject to the articulator without errors and deviations. After the essential jaw relation record is obtained the parallelism of the device to the horizontal plane was checked with the spirit level attached to the horizontal lower arm of the device. In that same level of orientation, the recorded jaw relation is locked and. transferred to the nonadjustable articulator with the transfer device in which the jaw relation recording device and the articulator are placed and locked in the same plane without deviation. The articulation can be completed by mounting the maxillary and mandibular casts to the articulator using dental plaster, then the jaw relation device and transfer assembly can be removed.

Many devices are addressing the issues like in the patent US2017/0128180 A1 discloses the device to record orientation jaw relation and centric jaw relation simultaneously for edentulous as well as dentulous subjects arid transfer of centric relation record to semi-adjustable articulator or non-adjustable articulator by using centric relation recorder, nasion and orbital pointer, bite fork similar to face bow, which was used for recording orientation jaw relation. However, this device does not record the vertical dimension and orientation of occlusal plane to Ala-tragus line. It was very complex and not specific for use in non-adjustable articulator. It -requires the registration of protrusive as well as centric records using interocclusal recording materials to program the semi-adjustable articulator, which was more complicated and requires operator skill and knowledge to use the device with precision and accuracy.

One of the prior art termed as Facial Anthropological device measures facial height in. three anatomical landmarks namely nasion, subnasale, and menton for edentulous as well as dentate patients. This device has the negative impact of weight of the lower metal portion and needs modification in design for recording other jaw relation like centric and orientation jaw relation because its usage was limited only to measure mechanically the vertical dimension of face. In US 4,504,226 describe a gnathological positioner for positioning the maxillary and mandibular arch models in the articulator. This device also relates the plane of occlusion of arch models to the axes of articulator in three dimensional simulation of same intraoral relationship for only the dentate patients and cannot be used for recording jaw relation in edentulous patients.

In WO 2008/131140 denotes an apparatus to record and analyze mandibular movement or the movement of mandible to maxilla of the patient was very complicated in design using electro-mechanical sensors in the recording device. This device was used to establish occlusion in restorative dentistry but its usage for recording jaw relation was not clearly described in the invention.

In W0200S/064666 invention relates to the device for the transfer of jaw model in relation to the hinge axis using lower jaw adapter and measuring bite carrier have limited its use only for hinge axis determination relative to lower jaw of the patient.

In US 4,368,041 was the device like a stimulator includes maxillary and mandibular face bow, a maxillary and mandibular support and incisal pin which records the jaw movements for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of occlusal problems and for dental rehabilitation. This invention does not locate· hinge axis and records centric relation or the establishment of axis-orbital plane.

In US005954503A it was the dental device for positioning the mandible and maxilla, in centric relation consists of centric bite assembly placed between the upper and lower anterior teeth. This device was not used for recording vertical dimension and its use was limited only for recording centric jaw relation for prosthodontic rehabilitation in dentate individuals.

US 8,556,626 B2 includes the mandibular position indicator for measuring and replicating occlusion by using a top pantograph to the patient via clutches to the top teeth of the patient and bottom pantograph to the bottom teeth of the patient was more complex in design and requires operator skill .and knowledge to use the pantograph for recording mandibular movements.

US 5,154,609 were the simple invention to record the dental bite to attach the upper and lower dental arch models to the dental articulator in the same relationship as occurred in natural dentition. This device even though its simple in design was used for dentate individuals but not for edentulous patients for complete denture fabrication.

Therefore there exists a need for simple devices to orient the maxillary occlusal plane, measuring vertical dimension and recording centric jaw relation simultaneously for edentulous as well as dentulous subjects for their prosthodontic rehabilitation to restore oral function, facial appearance, and overall social well being. This device is also useful for the operator in transfer of recorded jaw relation to the non-adjustable articulator without discrepancies and deviation.

And its safe for use, less time consuming and avoids multiple visits for patients. There are many transfer devices for semi-adjustable articulators but for the non- adjustable articulator, a precise jaw relation recorder is required for the accurate transfer of jaw relation similar to the transfer, made with face bow and Gothic arch tracers.

OBJECTIVES OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the invention is to provide an apparatus or device to record the maxillomandibular relation in completely edentulous and dentulous subjects with precision and accuracy.

Yet the other objective of the invention is to provide a device to orient the maxillary occlusal plane, measuring vertical dimension and recording centric jaw relation simultaneously for edentulous as well as dentulous subjects The other objective of the present invention is to provide an apparatus useful for the operator in the transfer of recorded jaw relation to the articulator without discrepancies and deviation.

Make recommendations about the use of this new device: its feasibility as a mechanical device for recording and transfer of jaw relation.

SUMMARY

This device is designed to orient the maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the Campers line or Alatragus line, by attaching the maxillary occlusal rim to the upper member edentulous bite fork with inner and outer rims. The occlusal rim is attached to the inner rim and the outer rim is checked for parallelism with Ala tragus line. The earpieces present at the end of the horizontal frame extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the subject’s face. It also records, the vertical dimension at rest and occlusion by using the pointers placed into the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin, the recorded vertical dimension can be seen in the calibrated scale on the vertical rod of the device. The mandibular occlusal rim is attached to the adjustable bite fork forming the lower member of the device, it can be moved horizontally from protrusion to most posterior centric relation position and the distance moved can be measured horizontally in the calibrations of the lower member; Thus the device is used to orient the maxillary occlusal plane and records the vertical and centric jaw relation for edentulous subjects simultaneously in single step. Using this bite registration obtained in the bite fork the maxillary and mandibular casts can be attached to the non-adjustable articulator. Hence the device can be used to record and also transfer the jaw relation from patient to the articulator without errors and deviations.

After the essential jaw relation record is obtained the parallelism of the device to the horizontal plane was checked with the spirit level attached to the horizontal lower arm of the device. In that same level of orientation the recorded jaw relation is locked and transferred to the non-adjustable articulator with the transfer device in which the jaw relation recording device and the articulator are placed and locked in the same plane without deviation. The articulation can be completed by mounting the maxillary and mandibular casts to the articulator using dental plaster, then the jaw relation recording device and transfer assembly can be removed. Therefore, there exists a need for, simple device to orient the maxillary occlusal plane, measuring vertical dimension and recording centric jaw relation simultaneously for edentulous as well as dentulous subjects for their prosthodontic rehabilitation to restore oral function, facial appearance and overall social well being. This device is also useful for the operator in transfer of recorded jaw relation to the non-adjustable articulator without discrepancies and deviation. It is safe for use, less time consuming and avoids multiple visits for patients.

Although specific terms are used in the following description for the sake of clarity, these terms are intended to refer only to particular structure of the invention selected for illustration in the drawings and are not intended to define or limit the scope of the invention.

The invention relates to the device for recording orientation of occlusal plane, vertical dimension, and centric jaw relation simultaneously and particularly to a device for an accurate and precise recording and transfer of jaw relation for dentulous as well as edentulous subjects. The device can advantageously transfer the jaw relation record to non-adjustable articulators or semi-adjustable articulators.

The present invention is a jaw relation recording mechanical apparatus. It consists of four main parts namely central member, upper member, lower member, and articulating member.

It is the other embodiment in the invention that the main supporting framework of the device consist of central assembly of vertical and horizontal arms, the vertical arm (1) is calibrated with readings and the horizontal arm (2) consist of spirit level (8) for the verification of parallelism as shown in Fig 1. Two pointers are fixed on the vertical arm (1) namely nasal pointer (6) and chin pointer (7). The upper member and lower member with all the components are attached to the vertical arm of the device with adjustable screws (21) for fixation in the desired position and get locked along with other parts of the assembly.

The gap between the nasal pointer (6) and the chin pointer is adjusted using a locking screw (21)

In Fig 1, the vertical (1) and the horizontal arms (2) of the device with the pointers and spirit level (8) are shown. The device with vertical and horizontal arms and pointers for measuring vertical dimension, in this device the maxillary (upper) member and the mandibular (lower) member are attached with adjustable screws (21) and able to move vertically into the calibrated vertical arm. From the readings where the maxillary and mandibular members are fixed with the occlusal rims inside the patient mouth, the vertical dimension can be measured in the scale at both rest and occlusion positions. Apart from this there are two pointers made of metal are present in the vertical arm which can be moved vertically to the level of the tip of the nose (6) and chin prominence (7) by measuring the distance between this two points can also be used to measure the vertical dimension with respect to the Patients face. These two methods, using the pointers and by visualizing the level of maxillary and mandibular members in the calibrated scale of the vertical arm will accurately measure the vertical dimension at rest and occlusion of the patients face similar to the conventional methods of recording vertical jaw relation in the completely edentulous subjects and for dentulous subjects the distance between the pointers will give the vertical dimension at rest and occlusion. The spirit level (8) present in the horizontal arm of the device was verified for parallelism to transfer the recorded jaw relation from subject to the articulator in the same position

Wherein it is one of the embodiment in the invention that the device is designed in such a way that to orient the maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the Campers line (Alatragus line), by attaching the maxillary occlusal rim to the bite fork of the inner rim of upper member (12) as shown in the fig2. The occlusal rim is attached to the inner rim (12) and the outer rim (13) in the upper member represents the parallelism of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the ala tragus line posteriorly and anteriorly parallel to the interpupillary line finally checked for parallelism with Ala tragus line. The earpieces (5) present at the end of the horizontal frame (14) extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the subjects face. In dentate subjects, the impression compound or Aluwax can be placed in upper member bite fork and ask the subject to bite for the orientation of the occlusal plane.

Figure 3 illustrates the lower member with adjustable screws and bite fork assembly. The lower member (4) consists of U shaped adjustable bite fork (17), central bearing plate (20) with adjusting screw (18) and a locking screw (19) for lower member (4). The adjustable bite fork has two metal extensions with horizontal slot to fix into the vertical arm of the device. The two metallic extensions will be attached to the mandibular occlusal rim for edentulous subjects. In dentate subjects the bite fork is placed in between the maxillary and mandibular teeth with interocclusal material like aluwax, impression compound. The bite fork along with mandibular occlusal rim or the bite registration constitutes the mandibular or lower member of the device.

Figure 4 illustrates the triangular articulating table to hold the non-adjustable articulator where articulating table (9) to hold articulator is fixed with adjustable height by using an adjusting screw (23) and a locking screw (22) is provided for holding or tightening the articulator in the desired position.

Fig 5 illustrates the assembly of upper and lower members locked into vertical bar of the device. The Upper member bite fork (17) present in the inner rim (12) to attach the maxillary occlusal rim for edentulous subjects and for dentate subjects maxillary teeth is made to occlude into the interocclusal recording material. The outer rim (13) in the upper member represents the parallelism of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the ala tragus line posteriorly and anteriorly parallel to the interpupillary line. The earpieces (5) present at the end of the adjustable horizontal frame (2) extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the subject’s face . The lower member (4) consists of U shaped adjustable bite fork (17), central bearing plate (20) with adjusting screw (18) and a locking screw (19) for lower member (4). This upper member and lower member with all the components are attached to the vertical bar (1) of the device with adjustable screws (16,18, 19, 21) for fixation in the desired position and gets locked along with other parts of the assembly.

Fig 6 illustrates the articulating platform (10) with adjustable triangular articulating table which can be tilted and moved vertically by using adjustable screws and a Horizontal slot to move articulator (24) also available. Into this triangular table the non-adjustable articulator can be fixed without movement to avoid deviation. In opposite to that triangular table there is a rectangular slot as a device holder (11) to hold the jaw relation recording device positioned with the maxillary and mandibular occlusal rim or bite registration of dentate subjects in the established vertical dimension and recorded centric jaw relation.

In Fig 7, showing the front view of precise jaw relation recorder and articulating assembly for dentulous subjects with lower member it is the combination view adding all the assemblies shown in figure 1-6. And it is the main embodiment in the invention that the distance between the nasal and chin pointers when the subject's mandible at rest position and at occlusion with maxilla can be measured in the calibrated scale in the vertical bar to which the pointers (6, 7) are attached. In case of dentulous subjects, the vertical dimension at rest when the teeth are without contact or slight contact and vertical dimension at occlusion when the teeth are in maximum contact, the distance between the pointers measured in both the position can be measured in the calibrated scale in the vertical bar (1) to which the pointers (6, 7) are attached. The difference between these, two positions recorded, will be the freeway space for the patients to fabricate the removable or fixed partial dentures and also for orthodontic treatment planning.

An adjustable bite fork which forms the lower member is attached to the vertical bar of the device with adjustable screws, adjustable screws will allow the bite fork to be moved vertically and horizontally with reference to the maxilla. .After guiding the subject's mandible to centric relation position and verified the position by repeated instructions. For recording the centric jaw relation in dentulous subjects the lower member with the bite fork itself can be used it is adjustable to prevent the contact with teeth which may alter the vertical dimension and bite registration that is maximum intercuspation is not achieved properly. It is the main embodiment that the adjustable bite fork with aluwax record placed is between the maxillary and mandibular teeth will provide recording of the centric contact position.

The impression compound or aiuwax is adapted over the bite fork of the lower member and the dentate subject is instructed to bite into the fork to obtain the indentations of maxillary teeth. After guiding the subject's mandible to centric relation position and verified the position by repeated instructions The Interocclusal recording materials like aiuwax, bite registration silicones, impression compound can be placed into the mandibular teeth and ask the subject to biting into the centric position to record maximum contacts of maxillary and mandibular teeth. This enables the recording of plane of occlusion, vertical dimension and centric jaw relation in a single step using the device for dentate subjects. With this recorded bite registration the maxillary well as mandibular cast as can be attached in the non-adjustable articulator.

In Fig 8, showing the front view of precise jaw recorder and articulating assembly for edentulous subjects with both upper and lower member it is the combination view adding all the assemblies shown in figure 1-6. An upper member with bite fork in the inner rim to attach the maxillary occlusal rim and the outer rim representing the parallelism of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the ala tragus line posteriorly and anteriorly parallel to the interpupillary line. The earpieces present at the end of the horizontal frame extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the subjects face.

The Pointer 1 placed in the tip of the nose and Pointer 2 placed in the tip of the chin The distance between the pointers when the patient's mandible at rest position and at occlusion with maxilla can be measured in the calibrated scale in the vertical bar to which the pointers are attached. A adjustable bite fork for attaching the mandibular occlusal rim which in turn attached to the vertical bar of the device with adjustable screws. The adjustable bite fork has two metal extensions with horizontal slot to fix into the vertical arm of the device. The two metallic extensions will be attached to the mandibular occlusal rim after tentatively completing the jaw relation with maxillary occlusal rim and contoured according to the determined vertical dimension. The bite fork along with mandibular occlusal rim constitutes the mandibular member of the device. The adjustable screws will allow the bite fork to be moved vertically and horizontally with reference to the maxilla. After guiding the subject's mandible to centric relation position.

The mandibular occlusal rim attached to the bite fork will be. adjusted to contact evenly with maxillary occlusal rim and it can be moved horizontally by adjusting the screws to the centric relation position. The distance moved can be measured horizontally in the calibrations of the lower member. These three assemblies are fixed by screws in the vertical bar of the device and the spirit level was noted in the horizontal arm of the device for parallelism. This enables the recording of plane of occlusion, vertical dimension and centric jaw relation in a single step using the device. The horizontal frame of upper member with the earpiece at the ends placed into the external auditory meatus of the patient which extends from the vertical arm of the device can be positioned in the desired location and can be adjusted using screws that fix into the vertical arm along with other assemblies.

The spirit level present in the horizontal arm of the device was verified for parallelism to transfer the recorded jaw relation from patient to the articulator in the same position

The articulating platform has a fixed articulating table in the shape of the triangle to hold the non-adjustable articulator and rectangular slot to hold the device with recorded jaw relation firmly with respect to the position of the articulator. The earpiece extension from the horizontal frame of the device which was placed into the external auditory meatus of the patient will be placed into the condylar shaft of the articulator to maintain the same position of the device with reference to the patients face while recording the jaw relation.

The spirit level present in the horizontal arm of the device was checked for parallelism when placed into the articulating platform in order to avoid discrepancies. After verifying the position of the device and occlusal rims with reference to the articulator the maxillary and mandibular casts are articulated with plaster in the articulator for teeth setting to fabricate the complete denture.

From all the figures together we can observe that it is the main embodiment in the invention, In dentulous patients, An upper member with bite fork in the inner rim is attached with impression compound for registration of maxillary teeth and the outer rim is checked for the parallelism of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the ala tragus line posteriorly and anteriorly parallel to the interpupillary line. The earpieces present at the end of the horizontal frame .extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the subject to orient the maxillary arch to the subject's face.

The Pointer 1 placed in the tip of the nose and Pointer 2 placed in the tip of the chin. The distance between the pointers when the patient's mandible at rest position and at occlusion with maxilla can be measured as vertical dimension of the patient's face can be seen in the calibrated scale in the vertical bar to which the pointers are attached as described below. Using the recorded impression of maxillary teeth, after guiding the subject's mandible to centric relation position and verifying the position by repeated instructions. As explained above, to record the centric jaw relation in dentulous subjects the lower member with the bite fork itself can be used it is adjustable to prevent the contact with teeth which may alter the vertical dimension and bite registration that is maximum intercuspation is not achieved properly. So the bite fork with aluwax record placed in between the maxillary and mandibular teeth will provide recording the centric contact properly. The impression compound or aluwax is adapted over the bite fork of the lower member and the dentate subject is instructed to bite into the fork to obtain the indentations of maxillary teeth. After guiding the patient's mandible to centric relation position and verified the position by repeated instructions

The Interocclusal recording materials like aluwax, bite registration silicones can be placed into the mandibular teeth and ask the subject to bite into the centric position to record maximum contacts of maxillary and mandibular teeth. With this recorded bite registration the maxillary as well as mandibular cast as can be attached in the non-adjustable, articulator with established vertical dimension. These assemblies are fixed by screws in the vertical bar of the device and the spirit level was noted in the horizontal arm of the device for parallelism. The horizontal frame with earpieces at the ends placed are into the external auditory meatus of the patient which extends from the vertical arm of the device can be positioned in the desired location and can be adjusted using screws that fix into the vertical arm along with other assemblies. The spirit level present in the horizontal arm of the device was verified for parallelism to transfer the recorded jaw relation from subject to the articulator in same position

After the jaw relation recording device with the bite registration is placed into the position in the rectangular slot of the articulating platform and the earpiece extension placed into the condylar shaft of the non-adjustable articulator. The spirit level is also verified for the position and parallelism . The maxillary and mandibular casts are positioned into the indentations of the bite registration and the mounting is completed with dental plaster to attach the casts respectively to the articulator for further procedures.

From all the figures together we can observe that it is the main embodiment in the invention, In edentulous patients, The bite fork present in the inner rim to attach the maxillary occlusal rim and the outer rim representing the parallelism of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to the ala tragus line posteriorly and anteriorly parallel to the interpupillary line. The earpieces present at the end of the adjustable horizontal frame extending from the upper member is placed into the external auditory meatus of the patient to orient the maxillary arch to the subjects' faces. This upper member with all the components is attached to the vertical bar of the device with adjustable screws for fixation in the desired position and gets locked along with other parts of the assembly.

The adjustable bite fork of lower for attaching the mandibular occlusal rim which in turn attached to the vertical-bar of the device with adjustable screws. The adjustable screws will allow the bite fork to be moved vertically and horizontally with reference to the maxilla. .After guiding the subjects mandible to centric relation position and verified the position by repeated instructions The mandibular occlusal rim attached to the adjustable bite fork can be moved horizontally by adjusting the screws to the centric relation position will be adjusted to contact evenly with maxillary occlusal rim and get locked in that same position for transferring to the articulator. The spirit level present in the horizontal arm of the device was verified for parallelism to transfer the recorded jaw relation from patient to the articulator in same position After verifying the position of the device and occlusal rims with reference to the articulator the maxillary and mandibular casts are articulated with plaster in the articulator for teeth setting to fabricate the complete denture. In other embodiment, the present invention exhibits a measuring technique on Orientation of maxillary occlusal plane parallel to ala tragus line or Campers line in edentulous and dentulous subjects

In other aspects the recording Vertical dimension at rest and occlusion to establish freeway space for dentulous and edentulous subjects by the present invention.

Yet the other embodiment in the invention is for recording centric jaw relation position of the mandible in edentulous and dentulous subjects.

In other embodiment that the device records the orientation of maxillary occlusal plane, vertical dimension, and centric jaw relation simultaneously in edentulous and dentulous subjects

In other aspects the device can transfer of established jaw relation to the non- adjustable articulator for edentulous and dentulous subjects without deviation

Thus with, the present invention the device can be used for recording the orientation of occlusal plane, vertical dimension and centric jaw relation in single step with precision and accuracy will avoid multiple appointments for the patients and will be convenient for use by the Operator.lt is also used for transferring the recorded relation to the non adjustable articulator without deviation for completing the articulation for teeth setting in the fabrication of complete denture. In case of dentulous subjects with partial teeth missing this device is helpful for diagnosis and treatment planning for removable as well as fixed partial denture. In Orthodontics to plan for orthognathic surgery and other treatment options requiring articulation of jaw models this device is very helpful. Undergraduate dental students and Dental practitioners can use this device for recording jaw relation and transfer to the articulator for dentulous and edentulous subjects requiring prosthodontic rehabilitation. This device eliminates the use of complex instruments and reduces time consumption for both dentists and patients. The semi-adjustable articulators requires transfer of maxillary arch using face bow and centric relation record to mount the opposing mandibular arch, this simple device minimizes the procedure and tentatively records the required jaw relation without face bow and other devices for edentulous and dentulous subjects, So this device can also be used for semi- adjustable articulators in transferring of tentative jaw relation. This device is also useful for the dental lab technicians to mount the casts to the articulator without alteration in the established jaw relation. Errors in the mounting of casts with jaw relation records are eliminated in this device due to .the added advantage of articulating platform with adjustable articulating table. There are lot of devices like face bow, transfer assembly and mandibular movement tracers are available for mounting of casts in semi-adjustable articulators but for the non-adjustable articulators which were commonly used in the prosthodontic procedure the devices for transferring of jaw relation and mounting of casts is very minimum and uncommon. Hence this invention of the jaw relation recording device and articulating assembly is very useful in accurate transfer and mounting in non-adjustable articulator as similar to the accuracy of mounting casts in the semi-adjustable articulator with face bow.
