Title:
PRECISION SHORT-RANGE PULSE-ECHO SYSTEMS WITH AUTOMATIC PULSE DETECTORS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2000005597
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
In the radar rangefinder (10), there is a transmitter (12) that receives pulses from a clock (14) and that produces RF burst pulses at the transmit antenna (16). Another clock (18) drives a receiver sampler (20) to sample radar returns on its associated receive antenna (22). The clock with the receiver (18) is typically swept in time relative to the clock with the transmitter (14). There is a timing control unit (24) to perform phase-locking. The peak detectors (38, 40) and the comparators (42, 44) together form threshold detectors (46, 48). The transmitter peak detector (38) receives a delayed gate-off pulse from the Gate-Off Delay Generator (58) whose input is connected to the output of the transmitter flip-flop (50).
