Abstract:
The present application provides a preparation method for trimethylaluminum, comprising the steps of: in the presence of a catalyst and a solvent, methylaluminum dichloride or methylaluminum sesquichloride or dimethylaluminum chloride reacts with a system of metal M and chloromethane to produce chlorides of trimethylaluminum and metal M, wherein the catalyst is selected from metals, of which the electrochemical series is after that of aluminum, or ions thereof, and the metal M is selected from an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, or a combination thereof. The catalyst can significantly increase the reaction rate, allowing the reaction to be carried out under very simple experimental conditions such as at about the atmospheric pressure, thereby achieving higher reaction yield and product purity and ensuring that there is no by-product aluminum and unreacted alkali metal or alkaline earth metal in products, thus facilitating the treatment of the products.
