Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a prepreg manufacturing method and manufacturing apparatus that suppress the generation of fluff, enable continuous production without clogging by fluff, ensure uniform application of a coating liquid to a reinforcing fiber sheet and efficient impregnation, and make it possible to increase the production speed. The main purpose of the present invention is the prepreg manufacturing apparatus that applies a coating liquid to a reinforcing fiber sheet, and that comprises: a coating unit including a liquid reservoir portion in which the coating liquid is stored and which has a portion with a cross-sectional area continuously decreasing downward in the vertical direction, and a narrowed section having a slit-shaped outlet communicating with the lower end of the liquid reservoir portion; a traveling mechanism that causes the reinforcing fiber sheet to travel vertically downward and loads the reinforcing fiber sheet into the coating unit; a pull-out mechanism that pulls the reinforcing fiber sheet downward from the coating unit; a wall surface member that forms a narrowed section facing the thickness direction of the reinforcing fiber sheet; and an external force applying mechanism that applies an external force in the thickness direction of the reinforcing fiber sheet to the wall surface member.
