Abstract:
A preservative detecting method and apparatus for detecting a preservative
composed of a nonmagnetic material and added to a packaged food product stably
and accurately. A preservative detecting apparatus for detecting a preservative
composed of a non magnetic material and added to a packaged food product (6) comprises
a measuring instrument (30) for measuring the impedance characteristic of the
packaged food product (6) and a control unit (4) for determining an allowable
range of the impedance characteristic of the packaged food product according
to the measured value of the impedance characteristic of a packaged food product
containing a preservative the presence of which is known, storing the determined
allowable range, and comparing the measured value of the impedance characteristic
of the packaged food product (6) with the allowable range so as to detect the preservative
in the packaged food product (6). As the impedance characteristic, one of the
phase angle of the impedance value Z, the resistance value Rs in an equivalent
series circuit mode, and the capacitance value Cs in the equivalent series circuit
mode is selected and measured, thereby detecting a preservative.
