Description:
PRESSURIZED-FLUID ABRASIVE CUTTING APPARATUS

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to machines, tools or auxiliary devices for building or repairing roads or similar structures. Specifically, it consists of an abrasive cutting apparatus using pressurized fluid.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

When cutting the cement of streets and sidewalks for repair or construction work, segmented diamond metal disks and continuous disks are used (US3863401A and US3763601A), producing extremely intense noise that affects the surrounding area by bothering and harming the people in the areas adjacent to the work site.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention describes a pressurized-fluid abrasive cutting apparatus, which is equipped with several injectors for cutting. More specifically, the cutting apparatus comprises at least two injectors to inject pressurized fluid, in order to make abrasive cuts in roads, sidewalks, walls and similar structures.

The invented cutting apparatus enables cuts to be made at different required depths. Likewise, the cutting apparatus is portable, and incorporates a safety and protection mechanism.

The device need not be shut down to restock the fluid used for cutting, since said fluid may be placed in pressurized tanks that are easily changed out, once the fluid contents therein run out, making it a continuous process.

It likewise does not generate mechanical fractures or heat stress in the material surrounding the cut.

The depth and width of the cut depends on the output diameter of the injector and the final pressure of the device. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

In order to complement the description being made and with the object of helping to better understand the characteristics of the invention, in accordance with a preferred practical embodiment thereof, said description is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by a set of drawings where, in an illustrative and non-limiting manner, the following has been represented:

Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the cutting apparatus for injecting high- pressure fluids with its respective components.

Figures 2A to 2E show a close-up view of an injector (figure 2A), and various examples of the configuration of the injectors (figures 2B to 2E).

PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

What is offered below, with the help of the aforementioned figures 1 and 2A-2E, is a detailed description of a preferred exemplary embodiment of a pressurized-fluid abrasive cutting apparatus, in accordance with the present invention.

Figure 1 is a schematic diagram of the high-pressure abrasive cutting apparatus , with the components thereof. The cutting apparatus comprises: a pressure unit (1), which preferably has a pump, to keep the fluid pressurized; a power supply; a plurality of injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44), to produce an abrasive cut by means of the pressurized fluid; at least one transport hose (2) to distribute the pressurized fluid to the injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44); and a handling device (3), to be held and handled by a user, wherein the injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44) are supported in the handling device (3).

The cutting apparatus may additionally incorporate pressurized tanks, for example high-pressure cylinders, connected to the pressure unit (1) and to the transport hose or hoses (2), to house the pressurized fluid.

It may also incorporate, as protection means, a cooling mechanism to cool the injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44), such as a cooling circuit (not shown), whether in contact with the ends of the injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44) that are housed in the handling body (3), or else running along inside the walls of the injectors (4, 14, 24, 34, 44). The cutting apparatus may further incorporate wheels (5) in order to move.

Figure 2A is a front view of one of the injectors (4). The injectors (4) are preferably addressable in order to orient and focus the pressurized fluid at the spot where one wishes to make the cut. Likewise, the injector (4) may be inserted in the handling device (3). The injectors (4) may be arranged in different ways in accordance with the following configurations, in order to adapt to the cutting needs in each particular case, as shown in figures 2B to 2E.

A first configuration, in accordance with figure 2B, shows two first injectors (14) arranged in line and working in series. Of the two first injectors (4a), one of them cuts first to a predetermined depth, while the other first injector (4a) continues with the cut, reducing the cutting time.

A second configuration, in accordance with figure 2C, shows two second injectors (24) in parallel, as shown in figure 2, from above. When they are moved in the direction of the arrow, the cut will generate a strip.

A third configuration, in accordance with figure 2D, shows four third injectors

(34), wherein two of said third injectors (4c) cut first to a predetermined depth, and the other two third injectors (4c) that follow finish the cut.

Lastly, a fourth configuration, in accordance with figure 2E, shows four fourth injectors (44) acting to cut blocks. First, the four fourth injectors (4d), acting simultaneously, perforate the material to cut, and then produce streams that weaken the material, forcing it to break into a block shape.

The cutting apparatus in accordance with the invention is equipped with safety means of the sort commonly used in shop and or construction machinery. Specifically, if a malfunction is detected, the device is configured to shut down automatically, and optionally to show some indication (acoustic or visual) identifying the malfunction. Likewise, the use of protective face masks is recommended, in order to protect the user's eyes while cutting.
