Abstract:

Preventives and remedies for ophthalmic circulatory disturbance which contain prostaglandin I¿2? derivatives represented by general formula (I), lower alkanol esters thereof or pharmacologically acceptable salts of the same, wherein A represents ethylene, vinylene or ethynylene; and R represents linear or branched C¿4-10? alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, optionally substituted aralkyl or optionally substituted 3- to 8-membered cycloalkyl. These drugs are useful as remedies for diseases caused by ophthalmic circulatory disturbance such as glaucoma (including normal intraocular pressure glaucoma), retinal pigment degeneration, macular degeneration, ischemic optic nerve disease, iridocyclitis, retinal embolism, retinal phlebemphraxis, diabetic retinopathy, chroid diseases following retinal degeneration, chorioretinal disease, eye strain and short-sightedness accompanying eye strain, etc.
