Abstract:
Provided is a printer that can indicate maintenance information at an appropriate timing and suppress maintenance cost. Thus, the printer is provided with a movable component that is provided in a printing mechanism of the printer, a driving component that drives the movable component, a position sensor that detects a position of the movable component, and a control unit. The control unit measures, with the position sensor, the time required for position-to-position movement of the movable component. On the basis of the measurement result of the time required for the position-to-position movement, the control unit determines whether to indicate maintenance information relating to the movable component or the driving component, or both.
