Abstract:
This invention addresses the problem of suitably removing thickened ink adhering to a nozzle surface. A printer 10 comprises an ink head 22 having a nozzle surface 23, a wiper 71 that wipes the nozzle surface 23 at a first position P1, a removing member 72 that comes into contact with the wiper 71 at a second position P2 to remove deposits, a coating mechanism 73 that coats the wiper 71 with a cleaning liquid 85 at a third position P3, a movement mechanism 74 that moves the wiper 71 to the first through third positions P1–P3, and a control device 110. The control device 110 has a first pre-removal control unit 121 that brings the wiper 71 into contact with the removal member 72 at the second position P2, a coating control unit 123 that causes the coating mechanism 73 to coat the wiper 71 with the cleaning liquid 85 at the third position P1 after the control performed by the first pre-removal control unit 121, and a first wiping control unit 125 that uses the wiper 71 to wipe the nozzle surface 23 at the first position P1 after the control performed by the coating control unit 123.
