Abstract:
A process for crosslinking polypeptides containing tyrosine surrounded by uncharged amino acids having low−molecular side chains by treating such a polypeptide with a phenol oxidase. This crosslinking is catalyzed by phenol oxidases such as tyrosinase and this catalysis is specific for tyrosine surrounded by uncharged amino acids having low−molecular side chains. This process is useful in crosslinking arbitrary polypeptides.
