Abstract:
A process for the preparation of disazo pigments by which coupling can be attained in an enhanced conversion; and disazo pigments prepared by this process and excellent in transparency, sharpness, staining power and gloss. This process is characterized by continuously pouring an aqueous solution containing a coupler component of the general formula (I) and an aqueous solution of a tetrazo component derived from a benzidine into an aqueous acid solution put in a batch-wise agitated tank at a mole ratio of the coupler to the tetrazo component of 2 : 0.8 to 0.99 to conduct coupling: formula (I), wherein X, Y and Z are each independently H, CH3, OCH3 or C1.
