Provided is a process for the preparation of a fluorine compound, by which a water-free fluorine compound can easily be prepared using an oxygen-containing compound. The process is characterized by reacting an oxygen-containing compound at least with carbonyl fluoride and thus forming at least both a fluorine compound and carbon dioxide without forming water as a by-product, said oxygen-containing compound being at least one compound selected from the group consisting of oxides, hydroxides, hydrates, carbonic acid compounds, hydrogencarbonic acid compounds, boric acid compounds, sulfuric acid compounds, sulfurous acid compounds, phosphorous acid compounds, and phosphoric acid compounds of at least one element selected from the group consisting of metal elements, H, B, C, N, Si, P, S, As, Se, Te and halogens.
