Abstract:
A process for preparing a solid titanium catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins by bringing a magnesium compound (A) into contact with a titanium compound (B) in a solution state to prepare a solid titanium catalyst component comprising titanium, magnesium and halogen as the essential components, wherein the titanium compound in a solution state as the component (B) is a liquid mixture comprising 88 to 99 wt% of a titanium compound and 1 to 12 wt% of a hydrocarbon mixture containing halogenated hydrocarbons. This process can give a solid titanium catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins exhibiting a high activity per unit quantity of the catalyst.
