Abstract:
A process for producing cellulose moldings which comprises solidifying a cellulose dope substantially comprising an alkali-soluble cellulose and a 5-15 wt.% aqueous alkali solution in an aqueous acid solution at a temperature ranging from the freezing temperature to lower than 20 °C, stretching the resulting solid 1.05-fold to less than 2.0-fold, and heat treating the stretched solid. The process is free from the generation of waste gas and a risk of explosion during molding and does not pollute the environment. The obtained moldings have mechanical strengths comparable to those of conventional cellulose moldings.
