Abstract:
Process for producing dense graphites from a doped synthetic mesophase tar, said process comprising the stages of milling the mesophase used, in the dry state or in a dispersing medium, sieving the dry powder of the milled mesophase, stabilizing the sieved powder by means of oxidation, shaping the stabilized powder by means of compaction, carbonizing the compacted material and graphitizing it at an elevated temperature, including the addition of dopant particles which catalyse the graphitization and are mixed with the mesophase before of after stabilization.
