Title:
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HEXAFLUOROCYCLOBUTENE AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HEXAFLUOROCYCLOBUTANE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1995/006022
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A process for producing hexafluorocyclobutene by dechlorinating 1,2-dichlorohexafluorocyclobutane with hydrogen in the presence of a metal oxide and/or silicon oxide catalyst. A process for producing (Z)-1,2,3,3,4,4-hexafluorocyclobutane either by reducing hexafluorocyclobutene with hydrogen in a vapor phase in the presence of a palladium catalyst or by hydrogenating (reducing with hydrogen) 1,2-dichlorohexafluorocyclobutane in the presence of a rhodium catalyst. An inexpensively available 1,2-dichlorohexafluorocyclobutane can readily be converted into hexafluorocyclobutene in one step at an excellent selectivity. Further it is possible to produce (Z)-1,2,3,3,4,4-hexafluorocyclobutane in a high yield.
