Abstract:
The present invention provides a process for producing water-absorbing resin particles, the process being capable of producing, with reduced stirring burden, water-absorbing resin particles having particle diameters in a specific range, the process having a high production efficiency. The process for producing water-absorbing resin particles comprises en bloc adding an ethylenic monomer to a hydrocarbon dispersion medium containing a surfactant mixed therewith and conducting reversed-phase suspension polymerization, and is characterized in that the reversed-phase suspension polymerization is conducted in one or more stages, the surfactant is at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether phosphates, alkali metal salts of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether phosphates, and alkaline-earth metal salts of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether phosphates, and the surfactant has an HLB of 9-15.
