Abstract:

A process for the production of chopped strands capable of giving molded articles which are free from impair in mechanical strengths or water resistance or from discoloration and molding pellets which are excellent in the dispersion of glass fiber and in mold release characteristics in molding; and fiber -reinforced polyamide resin molding materials prepared by using the chopped strands. Chopped strands are produced by surface-treating a glass fiber bundle composed of glass filaments spun by use of a bushing with a size comprising, in terms of solid matter, 100 parts by mass of an unsaturated copolymer prepared from maleic anhydride and an unsaturated monomer, 10 to 90 parts by mass of a polyurethane resin, and 5 to 100 parts by mass of a silane coupling agent and chopping the obtained strand.
